PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Floor Lamp

INSPIRATION:
There is no greater creation than life itself. Nothing is greater, more perfect. Nothing is more aligned with universal laws.
This lamp is intended to be a poetic metaphor between the expression ‘giving birth’, which represents birth, where the female body is the vehicle.
Inspired by the creative meaning of this expression and light itself. It expresses the relationship between light, creation, the body and language. It is an object that recognises women and their cyclical nature.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
This product has been maturing for 18 years, just like the legal maturity of the human being and the woman who created it. It is a metaphor that creates a relationship between feminine sensitivity and vulnerability, adding to the product's primary function questions about the universal nature of creation, the sacred geometry that exists in everything in nature, through the triangular shape and the design of feminine curves, to linguistic expressions, a reflection of human communications.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
The product was made with a continuous iron tube that creates the shape of a woman, as if it were a fine line drawing. In the centre is a triangular piece of sheet metal whose texture was deliberately created to give the piece a more raw charisma. The idea was to fuse the magic and grandeur of motherhood with the taboo of sexuality.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
This project was conceived and developed to be presented as part of the Decorative Arts Workshop course. In the iron working module in 2006, the course lasted one semester and this product was developed during that time. This piece has been in storage for 18 years, the age at which maturity is reached.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
This product was moulded by hand using special tools to help bend the iron tube. The luminaire is equipped with an E27 LED bulb. The light is indirect.

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
Length: 1400 mm high, 45 mm wide and 30 mm deep. The base is circular with a diameter of 60 mm, with a total weight of 4 kg. Electrical specifications: direct connection, 600lm, 2700K.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
A product that illuminates is a product that goes beyond its function, because as well as facilitating a task and making it possible in time, it co-operates with its surroundings, integrates itself into them and allows us to turn night into day, giving us more time, the most precious commodity anyone can have. I believe that the act of creation is associated with a simple thought that becomes the guiding thread that leads to a great idea, the simplest and most obvious thought will be the one that leads us to the most remarkable shares. Light, in essence, is the simple thought of that guiding thread, in the sense of the birth of something.

CHALLENGE:
A designer's creative process doesn't end when the product is ready. The most challenging part of this process has been dealing with the relationship between the finished product and the emotional capacity to take on everything it represents. Sometimes the product is ready long before its creator and there is a necessary maturing time for both.
